Perth showed they can compete, especially through their inside dominance, but if Sydney repeat their defensive approach and Davis gets rolling again, the Kings look primed to close the series.

Game one showed the blueprint. Sydney control the perimeter and slow down Kristian Doolittle early.

Perth’s biggest success came when they dominated the glass and attacked inside. That’s where Jo Lual-Acuil made the difference and where the Wildcats will need to win again.

But the Kings’ edge is still their guard play. If Kendric Davis controls the tempo again, Sydney can dictate the game.

Sydney have now beaten Perth in all four meetings this season and showed in game one they can win even when Perth play well. If they again neutralise Doolittle early, the Kings should create enough separation.

What could go wrong?

Perth’s physicality inside nearly stole game one. If they again control the glass and create second-chance points, the Kings could find themselves in another tight finish.

There’s also the RAC Arena factor. Perth are a different team at home and the crowd could lift their energy early.
