Geelong Cats vs Fremantle Dockers Tips and Prediction

Geelong return to GMHBA Stadium looking to steady things after a rough start to the season, but this isn’t the comfortable spot it might normally be.

Fremantle arrive with one of the league’s strongest midfields and look capable of making this far more competitive than the market suggests. Both teams feature in the top 6 for 2026 AFL Premiership Odds.

Best Bet: Fremantle Dockers +10.5

How this game shapes up

Geelong entered the year with premiership expectations after last season’s Grand Final appearance, but the start to 2026 has been anything but smooth. The heavy loss to Gold Coast exposed some vulnerability through the midfield and defensive transition.

That’s exactly the area where Fremantle can apply pressure. With Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong leading the way, the Dockers have the kind of midfield depth that can match Geelong around the contest.

If Luke Jackson and Sean Darcy can give them first use in the ruck, Fremantle should generate enough forward entries to stay right in the fight.

Best Bets

Fremantle Dockers +10.5

Geelong are always difficult to beat at GMHBA Stadium, but their early-season form leaves the door open. Fremantle’s midfield strength gives them a genuine chance to control stretches of the game and keep this within the number.

Caleb Serong 25+ Disposals

Serong has consistently produced big numbers against Geelong and remains one of the Dockers’ most reliable ball winners. If Fremantle are competitive through the middle, he should again find plenty of the football.

What could go wrong?

GMHBA Stadium can still be one of the toughest road trips in the league and Geelong have historically lifted at home.

If the Cats get their ball movement flowing early and bring their forwards into the game, the margin could open up quickly.

So this one probably comes down to whether Fremantle can control the midfield battle.
