Only four teams remain as the A-League semi-finals for the 2024/25 season take place over the next fortnight.

A-League expert Andrew Hendrie gives his best bets for the two semi-finals below.

Western United vs Melbourne City

1st Leg

City def. Western 3-0

2nd Leg

  • Date: Saturday May 24
  • Time: 7.35pm AEST
  • Venue: AAMI Park

City have one foot in the A-League Grand Final after crushing Western 3-0 in the first leg last week.

Centre-back German Ferreyra opened the scoring for City, while Socceroos winger Mat Leckie was also on target for his first goal of the season and first in the A-League since 2023.

Western were handed a blow before kick-off as star striker Noah Botic was left on the bench due to a minor quad strain - and while he came on in the second stanza, he was unable to make much of an impact.

John Aloisi's side need to go for it if they are to stage a miracle comeback, but that will also leave them vulnerable at the back. City to cement their spot in the GF.

Auckland FC vs Melbourne Victory

1st Leg

Auckland def. Victory 1-0

2nd Leg

  • Date: Saturday May 24
  • Time: 4.00pm AEST
  • Venue: Go Media Stadium

Auckland were successful in their bid to bring a first-leg advantage back to Go Media Stadium after edging out Victory 1-0 at AAMI Park last weekend.

New Zealand internationals Francis De Vries and Logan Rogerson combined for the only goal of the game, scored by the latter in the 64th minute.

The win means Auckland have lost just three games all season as they look to add Grand Final silverware to their already-secured minor premiership.

Victory were dealt a blow pre-match as captain Roderick Miranda was ruled out with a leg injury - and now he's racing the clock to be fit for this encounter.

At home with the best defence in the competition, Auckland look good to book their ticket to the Grand Final.
