New Zealand Warriors vs Wests Tigers Tips and Prediction

The Warriors look set to continue their dominant start to the season against an undermanned Tigers side in Auckland.

New Zealand have been one of the standout teams to open 2026, winning all three games by an average margin of 28 points. Their defensive structure has been elite, conceding just 12 points per game while consistently generating attacking opportunities.

The return of Luke Metcalf adds another layer to an already potent spine. His combination with Tanah Boyd gives the Warriors both control and attacking variety, which should place sustained pressure on the Tigers.

Wests enter this matchup with major concerns. Jarome Luai is sidelined, Adam Doueihi is under an injury cloud and their attack struggled to convert dominance into points last week. Despite having significant territory and possession against South Sydney, they managed just two tries.

This shapes as a difficult matchup against one of the best defensive units in the competition.

Historically, the Warriors have dominated this fixture, winning nine straight against the Tigers, including a strong record in New Zealand.

Best Bets

Warriors -13.5

New Zealand’s form, home advantage and superior squad depth should see them control this game.

Wests Tigers Under 16.5 Points

With key injuries and attacking inefficiency, the Tigers may struggle to break down the Warriors’ defence.

Halasima has been in outstanding form, scoring in every game this season and continuing to find opportunities on the edge.

What could go wrong?

The only concern is potential disruption with Metcalf returning and shifting combinations in the halves. If timing is off early, the Tigers could stay competitive longer than expected.

Verdict

The Warriors’ form, defence and returning firepower should see them comfortably handle an undermanned Tigers side.
