Pre-Season Analysis

It is hard to go back to back let alone take 4 in a row in any sport in the modern era but that is exactly what the Penrith Panthers have done.

The last team to win 4+ grand finals in a row was the St George Dragons during their 11 year domination between 1956 and 1966. South Sydney won 4 titles in 5 years directly following that with two back to back wins split but a loss to Balmain in 1969. Parramatta won 3 in a row between 1981 and 1983 but since then 2 is the highest number of wins in a row.

The Storm $3.50 are backed as early season favourites to break the Panther Dynasty with Brisbane Broncos $7 third after the addition of Ben Hunt back to their roster. Conversely the St George Dragons $67 are last in the rankings after losing Ben Hunt in the off season.

The Sharks $12 and Bulldogs $13 round out the top 5 with young cores of elite level players. The middle of the pack is crowded with the Warriors $51 one of the better long shot options given they finished 4th in the regular season in 2023 and were severly hampered by injury last year.

There is always a bolter and an underperformer every year, the art is trying to predict who, what, when, why and where. Keep an eye on all NRL content on Aussiebets in 2025 to stay up to date.
