2027 AFL Premiership Odds - Early Favourites & Betting Preview
The 2026 season is done and the market is already looking ahead to who will win the 2027 AFL Premiership.
Fremantle open as the $5.50 favourites, narrowly ahead of Brisbane at $6.00 and Hawthorn at $6.50. There is then a decent gap to Geelong and the Western Bulldogs at $11.00.

Who Are The 2027 AFL Premiership Favourites?
Fremantle ($5.50) open at the head of the market after establishing themselves among the competition's elite in 2026. The Dockers have developed a list capable of challenging across multiple seasons, and the market clearly expects them to be around the pointy end again in 2027.
Brisbane ($6.00) sit right alongside them. The Lions have become one of the AFL's benchmark clubs and once again enter a new season with the expectation of contending rather than simply making finals.
Then there is Hawthorn ($6.50). Their rise has been rapid, but the Hawks are no longer being priced as the exciting young team that might make a run. The early market has them firmly among the genuine premiership contenders.
Can Geelong Challenge Again?
Writing off Geelong has rarely been a profitable exercise. The Cats open at $11.00 alongside the Western Bulldogs, creating a clear second group behind Fremantle, Brisbane and Hawthorn.
Geelong's ability to remain competitive while regenerating its list has been remarkable, and Bailey Smith's second season at the club only strengthened their midfield. At a double-figure price, they are immediately one of the more interesting teams outside the top three.
Sydney And The Bulldogs Lead The Chasing Pack
The Western Bulldogs are $11.00, while Sydney are not far behind at $12.00.
Both have enough established talent to make a serious run if things fall their way, but the opening prices also reflect just how congested the competition looks beneath the three favourites.
Carlton ($15.00), Adelaide ($17.00), Collingwood ($19.00) and Melbourne ($21.00) complete a deep group of clubs that will enter 2027 with realistic finals ambitions.
Early 2027 AFL Premiership Outsiders
Gold Coast at $26.00 will attract attention after continuing to build a list stacked with high-end talent. The question is whether the Suns can turn that talent into the consistency required to challenge the competition's best sides across an entire season.
GWS ($31.00) and St Kilda ($34.00) are the only other teams shorter than $100.
From there, the market drops away dramatically. North Melbourne are $101, West Coast $126 and Port Adelaide $151, while Richmond and Essendon share the longest opening price at $251.
