The Good, the Bad & the Ugly: January is heating up
Time flies when you are having fun. We are already in the middle of January and the Christmas and New Years hangovers are a distant memory. Here are some highlights and some lowlights from the last week in sport.
The Good
The Adelaide Strikers are on their way to one of the biggest turnarounds in Big Bash history. After starting 1-4 they were given next to no chance to make finals. A win over the weekend against the Thunder puts the Strikers at 5-5 sending them into the playoffs.

The Bad
Aaron Finch closed out his professional cricket career on Saturday with a win against the Struggling Stars. Finch unfortunately departed for a duck off his third ball trying to hit it out of the stadium. A sad finish for a foundation player and former captain who deserved to go out with a bang.
- Two key recruits for St George Illawarra Dragons ruled out before season even starts.
- Miami Dolphins once again not being able to compete on the big stage losing their Wild Card game against the Chiefs while only scoring 7 points.
- Former number 2 pick Marvin Bagley III gets traded (again) from worst team in NBA Detroit Pistons to second worst Washington Wizards.
The Ugly
South East Melbourne Phoenix continue to be dominated in the NBL. Another 20+ point loss over the weekend has them at 8th on the ladder with a points differential of -106
- Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys once again choking in the NFL playoffs.
- Melbourne Stars lose final two games of Big Bash to miss finals by 3 points.
