The Malaysian Grand Prix hosts race 3 of the Formula 1 season on April 4th at the Sepang International Circuit at Sepang, Malaysia.

Even though Malaysia didn't join the F1 calendar till 1999, FIA-sanctioned racing has been held in Malaysia since the 1960s. The Malaysian Grand Prix has always been held at the new Sepang International Circuit, a track that has seen plenty of action. A lot of that though has been due to the weather, one minute it is extremely hot and the next there is a tropical downpour. The 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix indeed proved disastrous due to heavy rainfall and the race not being able to be restarted due to the low light level making it through the clouds and eventually the race was abandoned.

The Sepang circuit is considered one of the most technical on the calendar, with its tight corners and long high speed straights ensuring its a favourite of the drivers due to its overtaking capabilities.
